The Sacred Narration in Ramayana

The great sage Valmiki beautifully portrays Lord Hanuman as the perfect embodiment of strength, wisdom, and devotion in the Kishkindha Kanda of the Ramayana.

In the divine presence of Lord Rama, the greatness of Hanuman unfolds further. The revered sage Agastya narrates in detail the miraculous birth and extraordinary qualities of Hanuman.

Both Kishkindha Kanda, Yudha Khanda, and Sundara Kanda vividly describe Hanuman’s valor, devotion, and divine leelas—offering timeless inspiration to devotees.

The Divine Birth of Lord Anjaneya

Once, the beautiful Mayilgiri mountain was ruled by the noble Vanara king Kesari. His virtuous wife, Anjana, was blessed by Vayu, the Wind God.

Through this divine blessing, she gave birth to a radiant and powerful child—Lord Anjaneya (Hanuman), destined to become the greatest devotee of Lord Rama.

The Child Who Reached for the Sun

One day, when Mother Anjana stepped out, the infant Hanuman awoke hungry. Seeing the rising sun glowing like a ripe fruit, he leapt into the sky to grasp it.

Alarmed, Indra, the king of the heavens, struck the child with his thunderbolt—Vajra. The blow hit Hanuman’s jaw, causing him to fall back to earth.

Seeing his beloved child injured, Vayu, overwhelmed with grief and anger, withdrew air from the universe. All beings began to suffocate, and the cosmos plunged into chaos.

The Blessings That Made Him Invincible and Named ‘HANUMAN’

To calm Vayu and restore balance, the gods bestowed divine boons upon the child:

  • Immense strength and courage
  • Protection from weapons
  • Supreme wisdom and knowledge
  • Longevity and near immortality

From that moment, Hanuman became an invincible force of divine energy. Because his jaw (hanu) was struck, he came to be known as Hanuman—“the one with a prominent or injured jaw.”

Hanuman – The Supreme Guru and Humble Disciple

Hanuman was not only powerful but also the ocean of knowledge and virtues. It is said he had thousands of disciples, and even great beings like Nal, Neel, and Jambavan revered him as their Guru.

Sugriva himself bowed at Hanuman’s feet, declaring, “There is no Guru like you.”

Yet, in unmatched humility, Hanuman said:

“I do not wish to be a Guru. The joy of being a disciple is far greater.”

Despite possessing supreme wisdom, he chose to remain forever a servant of Lord Rama.

Lord Suryadev and Hanuman

Lord Hanuman learned the Vedas, Vedangas, Upangas, and the Nine Grammars (Nava Vyakarna) directly from Surya Dev while traveling alongside him.

The Spiritual Essence – The Path of True Devotion

Hanuman’s life teaches us a profound truth:
True greatness lies not in power, but in humility and devotion.

He had the strength to conquer worlds, yet chose to surrender at the feet of Lord Rama.
He had the wisdom of the universe, yet remained a humble servant.

Devotion (Bhakti) is higher than ego.
Service (Seva) is greater than status.
Surrender (Sharanagati) leads to divine bliss.

In every heart where the name of Rama resides, Hanuman is present.
And in every act of pure devotion, his spirit lives on.

Kapidhwaja – The Divine Flag of Lord Hanuman on Arjuna’s Chariot

The Sacred Symbol in the Mahabharata

In the epic Mahabharata, the chariot of Arjuna bore a sacred flag known as Kapidhwaja—the banner of Hanuman.

Placed there by the will of Krishna, this divine symbol represented protection, courage, and the assurance of victory. Hanuman’s presence was not just symbolic—it was a living force of power and righteousness.

Symbol of Victory Over All Odds

Hanuman, who once helped Lord Rama triumph over Ravana, became a symbol of victory against impossible odds.

His presence on the Kapidhwaja assured that righteousness would ultimately prevail.

Hanuman Sadhna and Upasana help devotees to overcome:

  • Strength in difficult times
  • Wisdom in confusion
  • Devotion in our hearts
  • Humility in our actions

Jai Hanuman 🙏
