Navagraha Consciousness
The Vedas are encyclopaedia of all subjects. Navagraha means nine planets and celestial bodies in Sky. It is evident and crystal clear by rising Sun and Moon. Planets are worshipped as Gods. Rig Veda mentioned about Navagraha. Yajur Veda and Atharva Veda listed names and importance of Navagraha. The nine planets are namely Sun. Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu with specific importance and having affect on human physical and spiritual life. In Olden temples no navagraha idols are installed. In recent times navagraha temples are constructed to lessen navagraha dosha. At balaji temple, in Andhra Pradesh or Somnath temple in Gujarat or any ancient temples doesn’t have any Navagraha idols. The reason is Navagraha are unstable celestial bodies and moves from one zodiac Sign to other Sign. In Tamil Nadu at kumbakonnam, navagraha temples are situated at different places. The Lord Brahma is Rasi Purusha. The Lord Vishnu is Nakshatra Purusa. The Lord Shiva is Graha Purusha. To appease Navagraha perform Shiva Abhishekam to remove obstacles and attain peace. Surya Navagraha
The first is Surya Graha temple located at Thiruvayyur, 15 kms from Kumbhakonam, Tamilnadu. In Tamil Suriyanar means Lord Surya and presiding deities are Surya with his two wives Usha (Sanjana) and Pratyusha (Chaya). Every year Makara Sankranti is celebrated to honour Lord Surya. Worship of Surya improves health and prosperity. The Sun is the first planet or navagraha in Astrology. The Surya is lord of Simha Rasi and 3 nakshatras Krithika, Uttara phalguni and Uttarashada and Mahardasa is 6 years. Chandra Navagraha
The second temple is moon which is situated in Thingaluru, 5 Kms from Thiruvayyur, near Kumbhakonam, Tamilnadu. In Tamil Thinga means Lord Chandra. The moon is the second planet or navagraha in Astrology. The Chandra is lord of Karaka Rashi and 3 nakshatras Rohini, Hastha and Shravan and Mahardasa is 10 years. Lord Chandra exalted in Vrischika Rasi, Moola Trikonam in Vrishabha Rasi and debilitated in Vrishiika Rasi and neutral with other Navagraha. Kuja Navagraha
and Dhanista and Mahardasa is 7 years. Lord Kuja is exalted in Makara Rasi, Moola Trikonam in Mesha Rasi and debilitated in Karaka Rasi. The favourable things are red cloths, red flowers, Masoor daal, Jaggery, and coral. The element is earth and important day is Tuesday. It represents South side. The Gender is male and friends are Ravi, Chandra & Guru and enemies are Rahu & Budha Graha. The other Navagraha maintain neutral relationship with Mangala Graha.
