Ananth Chaturdashi
Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturdashi falls on a day before the full moon. It is on Friday, 6th September 2025 and Pooja of Lord Vishnu and immersion of Lord Ganesh. Ananth means endless and limitless. Lord Narayana rest on the Ananth serpent before the beginning of the corpse. Lord Lakshman’s brother of Lord Rama is the incarnation of Ananth. Lord Vishnu is called Sheshashayan, Ananth Narayan, Sri Ranga Swamy, Sri Ranganatha and Ananth Padmanabhaswany. Lord Vishnu observe Yoga nidra for four months from Asada Shukla Ekadashi to Kartik Shukla Ekadashi. Anant Padmanabhan Swamy temple is located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala it is one of the world’s richest temples and has seven doors. One of the doors is locked and unable to unlock because Naga Bandam means Anant serpent is protecting that room. The Temple possessed a lot of gold jewellery and prosperity. Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple is located at Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu near the Kaveri River with his wife Ramanayake. It is said to be Bhulok Vaikhuntam for Vaishnav culture. This Vrath is observed by a Married couple for fourteen years for marital bliss.
An Ananth serpent is made with Special Grass called Dharbha and it is worshipped as Ananta Padmanabhan Swamy. It is the most sacred pooja with fourteen lines of red thread made as Ananth Sutra. Fourteen types of flowers and leaves are used to perform a pooja. A special Naivaidyam is prepared with fourteen types of vegetables and also a sweet called Anarse made with rice flour and Jaggery. After completion of fourteen years vrath it is entrusted to another couple to continue vrath for another fourteen years. This Vrath is observed to regain misfortune and recapture lost success to fulfil common desires. Vrath is mainly followed to have a male child.
Another grandeur celebration is the immersion of Ganesh clay idol in local water or River with happiness and joy. It is the 10th-day festival and the end of Ganesh Navaratri. Ananth Chaturdashi is the last day of worship of Ganesh Navaratri Utsav. Navaratri was started by Bala Gangadhar Tilak to improve unity and togetherness among the public to participate in the freedom struggle to attain an independent India. Few of them are aware even Ganapathi is Kuldaivat of Konkani families extended on the western coast of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka. Konkani sweet Naivaidyam is Patholi made with rice flour coconut powder and Jaggery. It is called Undralu in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Kadubu in Karnataka celebrates the Ganesh festival for nine days. In some places, they worship Lord Ganesh for 21 days. The last day is organised with dance, colours and Anna dhanam chanting Ganapathi Bappa Moriya.
A devotee by name of Morya Goswami, from Chinchwad, Pune, performed penance for the direct appearance of Lord Ganesh. Lord Ganesh appeared and was blessed to recollect the name of Morya with his name. Today Morya Goswami Ganesh temple is famous in Maharashtra. Lalbaguacha Ganapathi of Mumbai is famous in India and gained a lot of donations along with gold and silver gifts. At the time of immersion, he is offered Dahi rice, Kheer, Sweets, Laddu, and Modak. While immersion devotees request Lord Ganesh to come early next year.
